Advantages of traveling in a group

There are many different ways to travel around the world, but most people, being the social creatures we are, like to stick together. Traveling with your friends and as part of a larger group is a popular choice when it comes to travel options for a number of reasons, and the advantages far outweigh any disadvantages you might find during any single traveling experience.

The first advantage of traveling in a group is one of the biggest factors in most peoples’ choice, and that is the fact that traveling with others is cheaper and more affordable across the board (especially when it comes to accommodation and visiting popular tourist attractions). Flights, when booked in groups, especially if done though a travel agent, will be cheaper, and you may be able to haggle a deal if you have enough people. Accommodation, at hotels, hostels and even short term rentals all work out cheaper since you can split the costs and share rooms as needed to get everyone a place to sleep while keeping costs down.

The planning process when traveling in a group is also going to be much easier to manage than it would be if it were being done by only one person. If you have a group of people planning the same trip, you can delegate and give each person a particular task to complete, and if every person only has one thing to worry about, such as booking flights or accommodation, it will happen much faster and you will be a lot more prepared than if you have to try remember everything all by yourself.

When traveling in a group, you may have to give up some freedoms, such as being able to relax by yourself and do what you want to do when you arrive in a new city. However, it doesn’t have to be that difficult, if you all agree that there are some things that you would like to do, and agree to find some time to do the things you want to do instead of arguing about which attraction is more important to visit, everyone will probably get to do what they want to anyway with minimal fighting.

Another great advantage of traveling in a group is that it affords you a certain amount of security, just by way of letting you always have people you trust around you. If you have something valuable that you don’t want to lose, you can give it to your friend to hold while you go for a swim, or if you’re going into a shady area in an unfamiliar city, you will always have people around you, which will take a huge potential target off of you for any wannabe thieves or scam artists.
